Employee health

Our commitment to corporate citizenship involves the introduction of state-of-the-art processes to protect Novartis employees and contractors from hazards in their workplaces. Novartis also strives to provide its associates with voluntary programs enabling them to maintain and further improve their health.

Health promotion

Good health is a key concern of people, companies and society at large, and it enables people to feel fulfilled and successfully develop their careers. It is as well one of the most important aspects of a full and active life. Progress in understanding the mechanisms of disease and how to prevent or treat illness has led to an increased life expectancy around the world. It aims to establish a safe, healthy and productive working environment.

Diverse health promotion activities are offered at many sites around the world. These programs vary by culture and size of site. Human Resources, Occupational Safety and Occupational Medicine teams work together to influence safety behavior, and to prevent cardio-vascular disease as well as the negative effects of stress. The activities to ensure health in the workplace are guided by relevant laws and Novartis internal regulations.

In addition to promote personal health and well being, health promotion activities expand the perspective of occupational health beyond the workplace. Novartis organizes a variety of initiatives and programs to maintain the health of its associates, while respecting their personal views, environmental, behavioral and lifestyle factors, as well as privacy. Depending on the size of the site and the activities performed there, a full- or part-time Occupational Medicine professional is available to all associates, offering services that include workplace assessment, health promotion and counseling.
