Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development (NFSD)

The Novartis Foundation for Sustainable Development plans and supports projects designed to strengthen and secure essential healthcare provision for the poor in developing countries. Through its events and publications, it seeks to promote dialogue on development policy between public and private-sector institutions. By means of scientific analyses, it helps to define the nature and limits of corporate social responsibility, particularly for pharmaceutical companies.

Novartis Venture Fund

With an initial venture capital of CHF 100 million, the Venture Fund supports new business projects that show exemplary entrepreneurial and innovative spirit in future-oriented areas, especially in the fields of the Life Sciences and new technologies.

The Novartis Foundation, formerly the Ciba-Geigy Jubilee Foundation, sponsors and encourages young scientists in Switzerland. Through its support for research projects, it contributes to the preservation and strengthening of Switzerland as a "research laboratory."

Novartis Foundation France

The Novartis Foundation France provides persons with difficulties due to age, illness, handicap, or family environment, with personal and social support. By sponsoring innovative projects and setting up networks linking together different types of organizations (such as medical, patient, educational, or sports organizations), the Foundation can provide continuing support and nursing to people with difficulties and help them to find new interests and projects in their life.

Located in Nuremberg, Germany, the Foundation is an officially recognized charitable organization established by the former Sandoz (now Novartis). The major emphasis lies in supporting medical therapeutic research projects at the university level, including post-graduate training and education.

Novartis Consumer Health Foundation

The Novartis Consumer Health Foundation sponsors scientists on a sabbatical leave, visiting the Faculty of Medicine or Sciences of the University of Geneva, the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne, the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL), the Geneva-Lausanne School of Pharmacy and the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ISREC).

The Foundation also sponsors post-doctoral scientists for bio-medical research projects at these institutions.
