In 2006, our corporate citizenship milestones included:

Treatments worth USD 755 million were contributed through access-to-medicine programs, reaching 33.6 million patients in need.
Novartis reduced average treatment price of Coartem to one US dollar, subsidizing access to this leading antimalarial medicine. Deliveries quintupled in 2006 to 62 million treatment courses.
Novartis associates worldwide completed more than 218 000 e-learning courses in ethics compliance covering such topics like human rights, ethical marketing practices as well as data protection.
Business Week rated Novartis one of the 50 most valuable brands worldwide and across all industries. We were also named by Barron’s as one of the 25 most respected companies worldwide, while Fortune magazine listed Novartis among the world's 50 most admired companies.
Novartis was named the 2006 healthcare sector leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which tracks the performance of companies in terms of corporate sustainability. Novartis was also included in the FTSE4Good index and rated a top sustainability performer, with a triple-A score, in the 2006 Global Pharmaceutical Sector Report by Innovest.
